The Washington Times, The Neo-Confederate Movement, and the Out-Of-Touch Right
As I have pointed out on this and my video blog, Reverend Moon's Washington Times has been a notorious repository for neo-Confederate and racist kooks. Don't ask me why a South Korean national would have white supremicists on the staff of his newspaper; if you try to make sense out of Moon and his operations, you will only cause yourself grief.
A while ago, I pointed out the irony and absurdity of Jason Mattera, a contributor to Moon's Washington Times, who recently had a book published that claimed that young Obama voters were out-of-touch "zombies." Mattera was recently named editor of the right-wing journal Human Events. As it turns out, Human Events recent sent out an e-mail with a special offer for the historically revisionist book The Politically Correct Guide to the Civil War. The cover of the book has a picture of notorious war criminal and Ku Klux Klan founder Nathan Bedford Forrest. I got a chance to look at the book and the book glosses over Forrest's atrocities at the Fort Pillow Massacre.
