Every [sic] people or every organization that goes against the Unification Church will gradually come down or drastically come down and die. Many people will die--those who oppose our movement.Source: Ann Nelson, "God, Man, and the Reverend Moon," The Nation, March 31, 1979

Reverend Moon's Quote of the Day

In making this kind of bizarre comment, Moon is not actually threatening to cause the deaths of these people, despite appearances. I attended many Moon speeches when I was a Moon follower, and particularly in the years 1976 through 1980, I heard him speak on several occasions. What Moon is doing here is shoring up the loyalty of his followers by predicting that inevitably, everyone who supports him or follows him will rise to a high position in society and will receive honors, while those who oppose him will be increasingly forced into more and more dire circumstances and will inevitably die, perhaps as a result of internecine war or natural disasters or whatever. By making this sort of prediction, Moon shores up his followers' belief that if they continue to follow Moon, they will eventually be honored and will enjoy high positions in society. At the same time, this prediction also reinforces their phobias, which had been instilled through mind control, which cause them to believe that if they were to leave the Moon cult or oppose Moon, they would suffer a terrible fate or would die. Many current Moon followers still cannot bring themselves to imagine leaving Moon, no matter how miserable their situation, because they feel a wave of phobic fear rising up that overwhelms all reason whenever they contemplate this prospect.
Thats the exact same thing as every other religion! Every religion says that if you dont follow whatever they believe in then you will die, and I'm pretty sure he means this metaphorically anyways. You can't just say that because he says these things he's somehow messing with people's brains and making people follow him because of these so called "phobias". That's just ridiculous.
